Book

I just finished reading FREEDOM AT MIDNIGHT by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre.

This is a book every Indian has to have read! A great book! I know I am saying this late (so many years after the book was published) but I just read it for the first time and I will say confidently that it will not be the last time!

READ IT would be the right thing to say to everybody! READ IT

Autorickshaw

After nearly four years, I am now able to walk out of the house and climb into an autorickshaw or the car by myself.

A few days ago I did just that! I wanted some books to read. My mother and I went to blossoms bookshop in an auto and got a few books..

Here are the photos I took with my mobile phone, while sitting in the auto..

Summer Shovers

Bangalore is now suffering under the summer showers :)

Today my mom had to give a few things to be stitched. We decided to go after lunch. Just as we were starting lunch, the wind started up. Doors and windows started banging, a painting on the wall fell off and the power got cut off! It was so sudden.

After a few minutes the wind abated and it started raining cats and dogs. Then as we were finishing lunch, the rain started slowing down and we were able to go and do the errand.

But we saw fallen trees in a few places and the roads were strewn with leaves, twigs, and other rubbish, sand and construction material from places where construction was going on.. The authorities will have a tough time now clearing the fallen trees and cleaning the roads of rubbish and water that has collected in puddles on the road..

good luck, drive safe

Design - New

Here are the new designs for the CDs made for The Professor S. K. Ramachandra Rao Memorial Trust. They are for the bigger covers normally used for DVDs.

The red ones above are for the CDs recorded in MP3 format.
The yellow ones below are for the CDs recorded as Audio CDs.

Graphic Design

Three years ago, my grandfather ( Professor S. K. Ramachandra Rao ) passed away. He was a clinical psychologist, orator, writer, artist, sanskrit scholar and musicologist.

Soon after his death, we have started a charitable trust in his memory. His numerous lectures on various subjects like South Indian Classical Music, Indian culture and the great Indian epics, i.e, Mahabharatha and Ramayana have been recorded by some of his friends, colleagues and admirers.

We have compiled these lectures, and have made CDs out of them. I designed these covers for the CDs. These were the first CDs released. A set of two CDs on Indology.

Old Blog

I had an old blog. It had only a few of my sketches, that I did more than five years ago. I deleted that blog a few months ago. But I will post those sketches again here just as a reminder for myself that I should start sketching again! Hopefully I will do a few again soon..

Road To Recovery

I stopped walking four years ago, in April 2005. I broke my legs in September 2005.

Now I am finally able to walk again. The improvement is rapid and satisfying, these last four-five months, after the surgery to correct the fractures. I started with a walker three months ago and now I am able to walk with only a stick. I can also climb up and down stairs, get into the car easily and stand without touching anything for quite some time.

Today I tried something new. I tried getting into an autorickshaw! And I did it. It was difficult and clumsy but I could do it. Something to smile about :)

Turn An Eel Into A Tortoise

Yes, thats right! our bathroom has been a nightmare every now and then. You wash it with soap and scrub it, its nice and clean for a couple of days. Then it starts slipping again..

So we decided a week ago to cover it with ceramic tiles. Not on the stone of the bath itself, but on the floor around the stone.

Now after a week of running around, its finally getting done.

First, the tiles were not there in the shop and he sent it home later. Two days after we placed an order.
Then the door was in the way and had to be removed.
The carpenter was helpless. He could not make the hinges budge.
We got another carpenter yesterday and he removed it.
We now have to use the smaller bathroom attached to one of the rooms, till the tiles are laid and the cement is dry.

But finally its getting done.. I hope it will serve its purpose. Nobody should fall and break something.

My First Post

Welcome to my new blog! This will, I hope, be a place where I will write about my hobbies, interests and everything else I have something to say about.. So here goes!

I will start off with a post about the heat in Bangalore now.

Somebody has told my father (or did he read it somewhere?) that the temperature in Bangalore will go to 41 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, tomorrow! Fat chance its got to do that! The highest it has been in Bangalore for a long time has been about 37, maybe 38 sometime in May and its still April now. But I do agree that the heat is oppressive now. Even I am sitting here with the fan on. I drive my mother and brother mad everyday insisting that they switch off the fan whenever I am in the room or at least in my room. And they are left fuming and sweating. :) Oh god that is enough! I am tired. next post sometime later this week.
